I have rounded up some of my favorite skincare products to make your shopping experience a little easier.

As a Black woman, I have spent a lot of time sorting through products that claim to work for everyone, but not all skin is the same. These particular products work well for my combination skin and address some of my most pressing needs, which includes but is not limited to hyperpigmentation and hydration.

Facial cleansers

Caudalie Vinoclean Gentle Foam Cleanser, $28. This product is great at leaving your skin feeling hydrated.

Youth to the People, Superfood Antioxidant Cleanser, $36. A little goes a long way with this cleanser. This rich gel builds up to a lather that helps remove makeup, keep pores clean, and minimizes the appearance of pores.

Dermalogica, Daily Microfoliant Exfoliator, $59. I swear by this exfoliator as it is great for dullness and uneven skin tone, it also keeps your pores clean and clear. It might take you a minute to get used to as it comes in a rice-based powder that builds up once you add a little water and build a lather.

I recommend the Dermalogica, Our Best Cleanse & Glow Holiday Kit, $95. You get three full sized cleansing essentials, a $143 value, but for $95 + Sephora discount of 10 - 20% off. A steal.

Toners

Please do not skip this step in your skincare routine, it is so important as it exfoliates and adds an extra layer of hydration. Additionally, the toners that I recommend are great for diminishing dark spots, blemishes, and uneven skin.

REN, Ready Steady Glow Daily AHA Toner, $38. I was first introduced to this product by the Glow Expert herself, Chanel Taylor and it does not disappoint. I have been using it for about two months now and my skin is noticeably brighter, tighter, and more even. It ticks all my boxes: brightens, exfoliates, hydrates, smoothes, evens, and tightens. To be quite honest, I have stopped using all other toners.

Caudalie, Vinoclean Moisturizing Toner with Rose Water, $28. Honestly, this was my go to for a long time and it is still great, especially if I am feeling particularly dry. Pairs great with the Vinoclean Gentle Foam Cleanser and the other Caudalie products.

OLEHENRIKSEN, Glow2OH Dark Spot Toner, $32. This product is great for removing dark spots and targeting blemishes. Only use at night and with all toners, please use SPF.

Essence

Full of concentrated ingredients, essences are water-based and go on after cleanser and toner to target specific issues and leaves skin more hydrated.

Caudalie, Vinoperfect Brightening Glycolic Essence, $54. Targets dull and dry skin and uneven skin tone.

Serums

Serums are generally lightweight with high concentration of ingredients that are meant to target specific issues. The serums I use tend to focus on hyperpigmentation, hydration, evening skin tone, and glow. Here are my favorites

Caudalie, Vinoperfect Radiance Dark Spot Serum, $79. Oil-free serum that brightens skin, even skin tone, and gives a good glow, leaving skin feeling hydrated and supple.

EADEM, Milk Marvel Dark Spot Serum, $68. Specially formulated for skin of color, this serum contains Niacinamide and Vitamin C to reduce dark spots, hyperpigmentation and post-acne scars.

Moisturizers

Caudalie, Vinoperfect Instant Brightening Moisturizer, $59. Pairs perfectly with the other Caudalie products. A hydrating, oil-free moisturizer that leaves skin glowing.

Charlotte Tilbury, Magic Cream Moisturizer with Hyaluronic Acid, $100. THIS 👏🏾 PRODUCT 👏🏾 RIGHT 👏🏾 HERE 👏🏾 If you buy nothing else with your Sephora discount, let it be this product. This will have you looking like a newborn! The hyaluronic acid plumps the skin and leaves you glowing. Looks great on bare skin or perfect under a flawless makeup beat.

SPF

I hope you didn't think that I would EVER skip this step.

Shiseido, Ultimate Sun Protector Lotion SPF 50+ Sunscreen, $49 or $25. The Black girl dilemma with sunscreen is that it can sometimes leave us looking gray or with a cast, but the Shiseido SPF goes on invisible in a lightweight lotions and smells good too!

Face Mists

When your face craves a little bit of extra hydration, reach for one of these face mists. These are also great for prepping your skin for makeup and or setting your makeup.

Caudalie, Beauty Elixir Face Mist, $49. Super refreshing, this face mist tightens the look of pores and leaves skin dewy and glowing.

LANEIGE, Cream Skin Mist, $27. Leaves skin hydrated and helps with the appearance of dry, dull and uneven skin texture.
